We all have that one dream destination that we haven’t stopped Googling since we laid eyes on it, a destination that grips our heart and refuses to let go. You’ve probably spent countless hours daydreaming and imagining what it would be like to sip cocktails on the beach of your favorite tropical island, or perhaps, walk the bustling streets of Rome. Hopping on a plane and jetting off to your dream destination can be a magical experience, one that allows you to enjoy what the world has to offer – who wouldn’t love that, right? Unfortunately, it’s not always that easy when your bank balance refuses to cooperate.
While it can be frustrating to watch your paycheck disappear before your eyes each month, there’s always hope! The idea of manifesting is a great way to stay positive in the face of adversity, and perhaps even score a trip to Bali *wink wink*. Stay with us; by focusing your energy on what you want, you might suddenly discover that your co-worker’s brother owns a house in Bali and has offered you a free place to stay during your trip. Whether you believe in manifesting or not, this simple list is a great way to get you feeling good while waiting for your travels plans to work out.
Create An Inspiration Board:
For me, there’s nothing more exciting than visualizing every aspect of my dream trip; and that includes being the weird lady that asks for travel brochures at my local travel agency. Get those creative juices flowing by crafting a fun, yet personal board that’s filled with images of your dream destination. Try and capture everything that makes you want to visit; the streets, food, people, and architecture, anything that will leave you inspired every time you take a peek at it. If spending the afternoon looking through magazines and cutting out photographs doesn’t sound fun, then try creating a virtual board, Pinterest has endless images for you to use. Creating a board of any kind is a great visual reminder of what you’re hoping to gain from your dream trip.
2. Plan Your Trip:
Planning your dream holiday may seem like you’re counting your chickens before they hatch, but you’re simply having fun while eliminating the stress of planning your future trip. Instagram and Pinterest are great apps to use for inspiration when researching great places to stay, fun activities to do during the day, and scrumptious restaurants to try when night falls. This is also a great way to picture what your trip would look like, it makes it a little easier for you to know what you want and don’t want to see. Did I mention it’s super fun?
I love planning trips, and that includes spending my days looking at flight routes. There are a number of websites that allow you to find flights that suit your purse, but more than that, it’s also a great way to stay up-to-date with flight prices. Perhaps the dates you’re looking to go are a bit more expensive than the following month, or opting for a layover is what drops the cost of your ticket. Do the proper research when it comes to flight options and prices, it will help you to make an informed decision when it comes time to book.
4. Create Playlist:
I can’t think of a better way to get into the mood than through music. Create a playlist that accurately represents how you’d love your trip to feel, creating a soundtrack is a great way to feel inspired, stirring up a bit of excitement in the process. Dreaming of sipping cocktails on the beach? Create a playlist filled with music that says – I’m relaxing in paradise. Not sure what you’re looking for? Head over to YouTube or Spotify for a pre-made destination playlist, or share your playlist with other travellers.
Welcome to the last step in manifesting your dream trip – gratitude. Showing gratitude for everything we have in our life is a great way to celebrate the present while magnifying our positive emotions. Once you begin believing it will happen you’ll start noticing subtle (or massive) changes, perhaps you’re inspired to take take a step you haven’t thought of before, or you meet someone who helps you achieve your travel goal. Gratitude allows us to be receptive to all the wonderful possibilities that life has to offer.
